Montenegro may be a small country but it offers some spectacular landscapes: mountains, lakes, national parks… Skadar Lake is the largest lake in south-eastern Europe, a natural border between Montenegro and Albania and a word recognize bird reservations with the great white pelican being its rarest but most beautiful resident. It is also the home of some of Montenegro’s most recognizable tastes: home-made wine, grappa, prosciutto, a variety of cheeses and of course a wide selection of lake-fish specialties. Our one-day tour to this beautiful national park offers a good combination of all the above with optional a boat trip on the lake.
The tour officially begins with a panoramic ride via small villages over lookouts Pavlova Strana. As we descend to the lake and to the almost forgotten town of Rijeka Crnojevica, we will make a several short photo stop, with a view of the river Crnojevica and Skadar Lake.
In a small town, we will make a short photo stop on a bridge from the 19th century which is one of the masterpieces of the Montenegrin ruler Danilo Petrovic. This town was a winter resort of the Petrovic dynasty and the beginning of the modern Montenegrin state. However, more about the history and the architecture will be during the tour, and here we will devote ourselves to the description of the wine, food and beautiful landscapes that await us during this adventure.
After visiting the town and getting to know the history of our country, we go further towards one of the villages on the shores of the lake.
All villages around the Lake have a long tradition of winemaking and we will visit one of the households that offer some of the best wines in the region. We will spend some time tasting different wines, spirits and enjoy home-made snacks and a traditional lunch.
In the village of Rvasi, we will visit a winery where the host will welcome us with stories about wine and tradition and will offer us with a home-made snack, wine and brandy. In this winery, we will try 3-4 types of wines 5-10 types of brandy and most likely traditional spring and bruschetta.
The vineyard, the quality of the wine and the host will leave you the strong impression of professionalism as well as the pleasure that the work of the winemaking provides.
From here, with a short panoramic drive, we go further, more relaxed, to prepare the stomach for new tastes of wine and brandy, towards one of the best restaurants on the lake shore where we will enjoy the taste of good food and beautiful landscape.
Namely, in the restaurant, we will be served with a fish menu (you can change the menu by emailing us in, advance) home salad, potato and, of course, fish soup, as well as a winery, brandy or some other home-made juice of your choice. Again, you will have the opportunity to meet real local people, proud Montenegrins who are always ready to share some legend and interesting events from this area.
Here, in this village, with our host, you have the opportunity to enjoy one-hour lake cruising in a traditional small fishing boat. This is not included in the price and the price depends on the number of participants.
After, tasty lunch, pleasant conversation and relaxation in beautiful nature, we continue to the next and last wineries during our adventure.
Here the host will welcome us with 6 types of wines and 2 kinds of brandy with homemade prosciutto, bread, cheese and sweet jam. So tasty,…
During the tour, you will enjoy all the senses. Wines, brandies and food are traditional, home-made and tasty. Architecture is typical Montenegrin, and the people you will meet in this region are proud old Montenegrins. The landscapes are spectacular and will definitely leave a strong impression on you and unforgettable memories.
We can change the tour and add more wineries and adjust the food. Lake cruising is an option with an additional fee and time.
We can offer some other activities on the lake as birdwatching, fishing, kayaking, hiking around the lake, and more.
Note: All of our tours are private tailor-made tours. All written tours are just our proposal, so please feel free to create your own tour. We will be happy to assist you.
